Our Parish Priest

Fr Alexander Ibe SMMM

I had my priestly training in Nigeria after which I was ordained a religious priest of the Congregation of the Sons of Mary, Mother of Mercy founded in Nigeria by late Bishop Anthony Gogo Nwedo, CSsp.

After my ordination on 26th July, 2014 by Bishop Alan Hopes, (Catholic Bishop of East Anglia), I was assigned to work in one of our secondary schools as Busar and part of the formation team for a year. Later, I was sent abroad to work in the Catholic Diocese of East Anglia, UK in November 2015.

I have worked as an assistant priest in St. Laurence’s Parish and Our Lady of the Assumption and the English Martyrs Parish both in Cambridge.

I left Cambridge in 2017 and was sent to St. Peter the Apostle Parish, Gorleston where I lived for six years serving as the assistant priest to St. Mary’s Parish, Great Yarmouth and St. Peter the Apostle Parish, Gorleston. I was also the school chaplain at St. Mary’s and St. Peter Primary School in Gorleston.

In August 2023, I was asked to move to the diocese of Northampton where I am currently working as the parish priest serving the united parish community of Holy Cross Church and St. Philip & St. James Church in North Bedford.

It has been a blessing working for both churches bringing the Good News of Christ to the community faithful.
